The Planning and Zoning Board of the Town of Maxton serves as an advisory board to consider zoning and planning matters for the Town. The Board is comprised of ten (10) members, seven (7) shall be residents of the Town and three (3) shall reside in the extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction beyond the Towns’ limit. Of the three (3) members residing outside the Towns’ limits two (2) shall reside in Robeson County and one (1) shall reside in Scotland County. All appointments are for four (4) year terms.
The Tree Board of the Town of Maxton purpose is to create and preserve a better living environment in the community by encouraging the planting, growth, and protection of appropriate street trees throughout the Town. The Board is comprised of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor. All appointments are for three (3) years with appointments expiring each June 30th.
The Beautification Committee of the Town of Maxton purpose is to promote and facilitate activities to improve the physical appearance of Maxton and to oversee and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and the Town Manager regarding the beautification of the Town of Maxton. The Recreation Commission of the Town of Maxton purpose is the creation, establishment and operation of a recreation program in Maxton and has the authority to operate, provide, maintain, and supervise all recreational facilities owned and controlled or administered by the Town of Maxton. The Commission is comprised of eight (8) members. All appointments are for 2 (two) years from July 1 to June 30.
There is created an Authority to be known as the Southeastern Regional Airport Authority, whose duty it shall be to establish, improve, maintain, equip, operate, and regulate all airport, navigation facilities. The Authority is comprised of. To be continued!
